✨The Centre Pompidou’s curtain call & flea market fun! A Week in Paris
A new week, a fresh edit of what to see, do and love in Paris (and the Saint-Ouen Flea Market). Celebrating Paris makers and the strange, new, true & beautiful, forever!

🎨 French painter Mathieu Cherkit returns to Xippas Galleries with ‘Always on My Mind’, a new show inspired by his domestic world and everyday routines – echoing how Van Gogh infused his ‘yellow house’ with life and wonder.
🍷 A much-loved café in the 11th – La Renaissance, serving locals since 1919 – is undergoing its own renaissance with our friends Josh and Carina, the trailblazers behind Candelaria and Mary Celeste. All-day traditional French cooking, natural wines, cocktails, and that glorious sunny terrace. “Everything changes so that nothing changes.”
⚜️ Still family-owned nine generations later, Debauve et Gallais – the legendary chocolatier who once sweetened Marie Antoinette’s medicine – has opened a plush new boutique on the suitably royal Place des Vosges. Utile dulci!
✍🏽 Opening tomorrow: the Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand presents ‘Les Mondes de Colette’, a major exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the pioneering writer and free thinker.
✨ Thursday night brings full immersion in the magic of the Paris Flea Market with the annual Fête des Puces! From 7pm: receptions in the historic markets with tastings, concerts, parades and surprises! Highlights include Paul-Bert-Serpette’s paradox-themed soirée curated by Julien Sebban of Uchronia World, and golden Brazilian dancers – fresh from the Paris 2024 Olympic opening with Lady Gaga – parading at Biron.
💥 And finally – today is the final day of the Wolfgang Tillmans show at the Centre Pompidou, closing the art centre’s programme before a 5-year renovation. But there’s one last blast: indie French label Because Music celebrates its 20th anniversary with Because Beaubourg – a thrilling final on-site celebration of the art centre’s radical spirit over 2 days and nights (Oct 24–25).
