On the US publication of The Paris Flea Market in 2024, I spoke with journalist Marisa Meltzer for the Style section of The New York Times about the Puces de Saint-Ouen and the years I’ve spent getting to know the place. We talked about what makes it so strange, unruly and endlessly compelling.
“What is fascinating is these endless rabbit holes of expertise and taste,” said Ms. van den Boogert. “There’s someone that just sells door knobs. There is a woman who sells old tools. There are sculptures from old châteauxs, gilded mirrors, paintings, furniture of all epochs, crystal and silverware and ceramics, lace from Brittany.”
